Job Description

Reports to: Cafe Manager
Location: Unit 34 Clifton Road Industrial Estate, Clifton Road, Cambridge, CB1 7EB
Contract Period: Casual
Salary: Up to £7.50 per hour depending on experience
Holiday Entitlement: 28 days holiday including bank holidays
Working Hours: Hours will be set according to opening hours of the centre.  Please note that we need someone who can work some evenings and weekends, as well as during the working day.  This will be on a rota system with other reception staff.

Job Role

The Receptionist’s role is to work alongside the Café & Reception Team to successfully run the reception and ensure Clip ‘n Climb’s high standards of customer service are met. This may include any aspect of the reception as well as involvement with the café operation including equipment, facilities, health and safety, customer-care and administration.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • To provide the highest standards of customer service in the reception and café
  • Welcome visitors to the centre
  • Booking Clip n’ Climb sessions
  • Answering and responding to enquiries via emails and phone calls
  • To provide cover with the other staff as required on a daily basis, (i.e. lunch cover)

Customer Service and Marketing

  • Assist with customer enquiries & bookings
  • Assist with party bookings for visitors
  • Welcome customers and ensure their arrival at the centre is dealt with efficiently
  • Do everything within reason to minimise customer complaints and maximise customer satisfaction
  • Ensure customers are thanked for visiting on their departure and encouraged to visit again
  • Overseeing the sale of merchandise to customers

Financial Management

  • Operate the till and take receipt of payments
  • Ensure all cash, cheque and credit card transactions are completed according to company directives

Health & Safety

  • At all times, work in accordance with company procedures and training
  • The job may involve you acting as a First Aider – once qualified – for which full training will be provided

Person Specification

Essential

  • Must be punctual, with a professional outlook, able to work under own initiative without supervision
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and high standard of personal hygiene and appearance
  • Must be an enthusiastic team player and be able to work with other colleagues in a dynamic business
  • High energy levels with cheerful disposition and the ability to work under pressure
  • Must be able to learn new systems with the tills (full training will be given) and be accurate, with an attention to detail.

Desirable

  • Customer service background with drive and enthusiasm to achieve
  • Use of tills/EPOS systems
